We can, we will - with targeted climate finance for adaptation

As we enter the half-way point to achieving the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals, solidarity and unity must more than ever be the driving forces leading humanity to a future where no one is left behind. Countries on the frontlines of the accelerating climate crisis are often those with the most limited means to adapt to environmental and economic stresses and strains. Hundreds of adaptation measures completed across the world have delivered benefits for millions of people and demonstrate that targeted investments and locally led action can realise transformational adaptation results across Least Developed Countries, Small Island Developing States and African nations. These interventions use the Local Climate Adaptive Living Facility (LoCAL), a standard internationally applied mechanism, designed and managed by the UN Capital Development Fund, for advancing adaptation action where it is most needed: the local and community levels. With a decade of experience and success documented, ministers experienced with LoCAL stand ready to advocate for accelerated action at scale and join the Climate Week NYC call: “We can. We will.” Join us for this ministerial level event during Climate Week NYC and on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
