FEMA and NAACP Intergenerational Climate Resilience Roundtable

During New York Climate Week, on Monday, September 18, 2023, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and the Climate Reality Project will host an intergenerational roundtable and panels on advancing a whole community approach to climate resilience and instilling equity in emergency management.

These sessions will feature a presentation on the culturally responsive work of the nation’s Ready Campaign, as well as discussion on nationwide grassroots efforts to strengthen resiliency in communities and further understand the realities of the Black and African American community and other historically underserved populations. NAACP and Climate reality leaders will also share their experiences and ideas for new approaches to federal investments and disaster resilience. FEMA leadership, members of the NAACP and Climate Reality will join to brainstorm ways to help historically underserved populations before, during and after disasters fueled by the climate crisis.
