The Climate Water Nexus: Why Water-Related Risk is an Important Part of Climate Strategies

Water is the primary medium through which we will feel the effects of climate change but frequently, water issues are not appropriately addressed in climate risk management. For example, sea level rise from climate change is directly linked to freshwater salinity, yet it tends to be undervalued. It is imperative that water is at the forefront of corporate climate strategies, yet it is currently under-represented in the public discourse on climate change adaptation.

As an insurer, AXA XL works with clients and stakeholders across industry and society to understand the risks posed by too much, too little or poor-quality water, and we’re pleased to be joined by experts from Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP), Las Vegas Valley Water District, and the Nature Conservancy in climate, water and oceans, and the intersection between them, to discuss how all organizations can improve their climate strategies by including water.
