Consul General of Finland in New York, Ambassador Jarmo Sareva, cordially invites you to our event, Building the Future Together: A Finnish-American Dialogue on Climate Tech. 

The Governors Island Climate Center development and the recently released New York City sustainability plan inspired this seminar and networking event. This dialogue aims to foster innovative ideas and sustainable solutions that will shape the future of climate research and technology. The speakers will include local experts from The Exchange university partners and leading Finnish scientists from the University of Helsinki & Aalto University. 

Program: 

• Opening: Cathy Dove, Interim Executive Director of The Exchange, Principal at Huron Consulting. 

• Climate Change, Coastal Ecosystems and Atmospheric Science - A keynote on Atmosphere and Climate Competence Center by Professor Tuukka Petäjä for Atmospheric Science, University of Helsinki followed by a discussion between University of Helsinki's Professor Petäjä, Professor Alf Norkko of Tvärminne Baltic Sea Research from Stockholm University, and Stony Brook's Dean of the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences, Paul Shepson 

• Towards More Sustainable Urban Lifestyles - The Role Of Data And Knowledge - A keynote by Professor Tuuli Toivonen of Geoinformatics, University of Helsinki followed by a fireside chat with Professor Timon McPhearson of Urban Ecology, The New School 

• Aalto’s New Technologies to Mitigate Climate Change, A keynote by Dean, Kristiina Kruus, School of Chemical Engineering, Aalto University
