Climate Week at NYC PIT Pop Up

CUNY Public Interest Technology Lab will be presenting a range of projects from across the CUNY community that will be looking at air quality, water justice, sustainability in urban life, and more! On Wednesday, September 23rd, we are excited to host the C3 Climate Week CUNY Research Expo. We will be seeing work from across the CUNY community—including graduate and master’s students, faculty, research teams and labs, centers and institutes, programs, and initiatives. On Thursday, September 24th, join the team from Open Plans to explore how they are making NYC and other cities more livable! On Friday and Saturday, September 25th and 26th, we will be showcasing the shortlist winners of the annual Macaulay Honors College Datathon: Reimagining NYC, hosted in collaboration with Marcy Lab School! This two-phase competition challenges students across CUNY to use data science, data integrity, and spatial storytelling to analyze the nuanced impacts of NYC's congestion pricing on local traffic migration and air quality, and to design targeted green infrastructure interventions. Closing out our programming on Sunday September 27th, we will be welcoming the Gala team, based at the University of Notre Dame, whose work focuses on developing and maintaining open educational resources through an online platform. Their work explores the possibilities of collaborative learning modules and case studies with diverse maker and learner communities spanning backgrounds and disciplines in sustainability science. This event will bring together work done in collaboration with a wide range of government and university partners, including the EPA, the University of Michigan, and others. Gala’s emphasis on environmental and sustainability issues will be focused here on drinking water, transportation infrastructure, and data tools.
