Engaging creative financial mechanisms, building technical capacity, and supporting the governance conditions that are necessary for climate solutions at scale is complex. Subnational governments play a critical role in creating the enabling conditions for advancing new forest economies and rely on partnerships for effectively developing socio-bioeconomy and natural infrastructure solutions, implementing jurisdictional REDD+ programs, and promoting sustainable agriculture, restoration and wildfire management. Partnerships can facilitate access to markets, aid in contract negotiations, and foster better private sector-community-government alignment. But forging successful partnerships takes time, effort, and strategy. This panel explores the conditions for building partnerships that, over time, can help to unlock finance, reduce technical and capacity gaps, and move climate agreements to action. Member governments from across the GCF Task Force and key partners of the global GCF Task Force network will provide insights on how partnerships between subnational governments and allies take root, endure, and promote tangible progress on integrated conservation and development.
