June 28, 2021, New York City – Climate Week NYC invites the global community to take part by hosting and attending events, supporting sustainable businesses, and learning more about how climate leaders and organizations are Getting It Done. Climate Week NYC, taking place September 20-26, 2021, is the time and place where the world gathers to showcase climate action and discuss how to do more.

Event submissions are now open for Climate Week NYC 2021. Following the success from last year, the week will be inclusive of virtual events from all over the world and involve a global audience.

Adam Lake, Head of Climate Week at the Climate Group, said: “As the Climate Week NYC right before a crucial COP[26], the week will play a major role in bringing people together to discuss the progress we’ve made and what we must do for a just transition. There are many climate solutions from the global community, and the official events program allows us to hear and learn from them. Last year, we saw over 500 events from 30+ countries, truly showing us that the world is galvanizing and collaborating to ensure equitable climate action happens.”

Climate Week NYC, hosted by the Climate Group, is the go-to destination to stay engaged on the climate crisis and will be filled with dynamic conversations to drive climate action. This year’s events program will be categorized by ten themes, including Nature, Environmental Justice, Sustainable Living, Policy, Energy and Transport.

The full Climate Week NYC events calendar will be available later this summer and the mobile phone app will launch at the end of August. The Climate Week NYC app will include a list of all the events happening during the week and the community listing: local sustainable businesses in New York City that the public can support, from zero-waste stores to ethical fashion brands.

Climate Group also announced an array of high-level business and government leaders set to speak on the Opening Day of Climate Week NYC (Monday, September 20).

  • Government speakers include Alok Sharma, President for COP26; Damilola Ogunbiyi, CEO of Sustainable Energy for All & Co-Chair of UN-Energy; and the UNFCCC’s High-Level Champions for UK and Chile, Nigel Topping and Gonzalo Muñoz, respectively.
  • Business leaders include: Nicolas Hieronimus, Chief Executive Officer, L'Oréal; Nancy Mahon, Senior Vice President, Global Corporate Citizenship and Sustainability, The Estée Lauder Companies; Dickon Pinner, Senior Partner and Global Leader, McKinsey Sustainability; and Badar Khan, President of National Grid, US.
