City Harvest is New York’s first and largest food rescue organization, collecting high-quality, nutritious food that would otherwise go to waste and distributing it for free to hundreds of food pantries, soup kitchens, community partners, and at our own Mobile Markets® across the five boroughs. This year, we will rescue and distribute 100 million pounds of nutritious food to our neighbors in need. By redirecting that food to families, we will also prevent the equivalent of more than 24.5 million kilograms of CO2 from entering the atmosphere. Join us at one of our signature Repacks, where volunteers help repackage thousands of pounds of rescued produce from large, bulk containers into family-sized bags that community food pantries can easily distribute to their clients. While you’re onsite, you’ll also have the opportunity to attend an exclusive tour of our warehouse. The event will begin with a presentation by the City Harvest Volunteer Programs team about our food rescue work and the current state of hunger in New York City. Afterwards, volunteers will repackage bulk rescued produce into family-sized bags to be delivered for free to New Yorkers experiencing food insecurity. During the repack, Climate Week volunteers will also have the opportunity to tour our warehouse and get an up-close look at our food rescue operation. To join this Repack, click the "Register Now" button above and you will be directed to a form to reserve your spot.
