The Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) is a global nonprofit impact organization committed to transforming seafood farming with real, measurable and verifiable impacts. Over half of all seafood consumed worldwide is farm raised and that number is only growing. When done right, seafood farming can help to relieve pressure from wild fish populations, while providing a nutritious, climate-friendly food source and critical livelihoods for millions of people worldwide. ASC leads the most robust standards and highest assurance to ensure traceability and transparency throughout the supply chain. This includes hundreds of requirements addressing issues around water quality, animal welfare, biodiversity, ocean health, community engagement and fair treatment and pay for employees.
