America needs to build more clean energy, more transmission, and more of the infrastructure required to meet growing energy demand and keep the country competitive. That will require meaningful federal permitting reform. But as Congress continues to debate the path forward, states across the country are already demonstrating what it can look like to remove barriers, improve siting and permitting processes, and get projects built.
This year at NYC Climate Week, Third Way & Inclusive Abundance is bringing together federal policy experts, state leaders, and other voices shaping the permitting debate for a conversation about where reform stands and where it is already working.
We’ll begin in Washington, taking stock of the current federal permitting landscape, the opportunities and obstacles facing Congress, and what it will take to move reform forward. Then, we’ll turn to the states, highlighting concrete permitting and siting successes and exploring what these experiences can teach policymakers working to build faster nationwide.
