Accion welcomes a curated group of finance, insurance, and development leaders for a working session on financing climate resilience, hosted at Mastercard's NYC Tech Hub. As climate risks intensify, the cost of resilience is becoming a critical question for households, businesses, governments, and financial institutions — and both the public and private sectors have a role to play in building and financing it. But where should responsibilities sit, and how should risks and costs be shared?
The session will examine the respective roles of governments, financial institutions, insurers, businesses, and households in absorbing climate risk, and consider how public and private capital can work together to close resilience gaps and strengthen financial health. Held under the Chatham House Rule to keep the conversation candid, this is a working discussion for a small group of roughly 20–25 participants.
