As temperatures across the globe are rising, heat in the workplace is becoming a central climate and public health challenge. From agriculture to construction to logistics, extreme heat poses a major risk to workers’ health and to supply chain resiliency. Through case studies, on-the-ground examples, and interactive exercises, this workshop will shift the focus from theory to practical, effective solutions that companies can take to help mitigate the negative impacts of heat in their supply chains. In addition to company participants, the workshop will highlight perspectives from those who are primarily affected by heat stress and help us understand which interventions might be the most effective in addressing this. Finally, participants will link effective heat mitigation to increased productivity and better business outcomes, making the business case for urgent action. Following scene setting by expert presenters, participants will break into small groups for an interactive exercise to identify, evaluate, and prioritize practical mitigations. Participants will then develop action plans for implementation, a key takeaway that will enable participants to advance mitigation in their supply chains following the workshop.
