Through hands-on service projects, digital learning tools, citizen science, and youth leadership development, LitterScout empowers students to create measurable environmental change in their own communities. Since its founding, volunteers have removed thousands of pounds of litter, educated thousands of students, and developed scalable solutions that connect local action with global sustainability goals.

Nepal has experienced a terrible climate catastrophe. The people and government of Nepal did not cause this catastrophe; the global North and its fossil fuel industries are the culprits. Decades ago science predicted such climate catastrophes and warned they would result if timely climate action isn’t taken. Who should pay for losses and damage caused by climate disasters like this? How can we mobilize to overcome obstacles in the way of doing the right thing for the people of Nepal?

Join us on a Sunday afternoon during Climate Week to experiment with food scrap watercolor painting! We will be using beet peels, onion skins, flowers, coffee grinds, and more to create beautiful works of art. The paints will be prepared ahead of time and we will walk you through the process so you can make your own at home. We will also be talking about all things composting - such as answering your compost questions, connecting you with your neighborhood compost site, and thinking of creative uses for food scraps!

Bring the whole family to the Bronx Zoo for a day of discovery and action during Climate Week! Join the Appalachian Mountain Club and Wildlife Conservation Society for engaging activities that connect kids and adults with the wildlife around us while exploring how we can all help protect a healthy future. Limited zoo admission is included.
All activities will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM (rain or shine) on the Mitsubishi River Walk at the Bronx Zoo. Registrants will receive a bracelet for zoo limited access.
