We all know the problem: demand for high-quality nature-based removals exceeds supply, and supply needs to be high quality and at scale to be investible. However, large-scale commercial forestry operations can be non-additional with fewer intrinsic co-benefits, and locking up large tracts of land in non-productive native restoration can be challenging on multiple fronts. What then, is the solution? Working with smallholder farmers has the potential to generate high-quality credits with multiple benefits – but aggregating and scaling into investment-grade projects isn’t easy!
