The maritime sector is often disconnected from mutually beneficial and aligned climate and ocean sectors. This event will highlight the work and opportunities in the maritime sector to support healthy oceans and climate resilience, while inviting greater collaboration across sectors to influence industry action, policy change and partnership creation. Discussions will explore where the maritime sector fits within the ocean-climate nexus and how it can be included in national action plans for climate and oceans. The event will also consider the energy infrastructure required to support low- and no-emission port and shipping operations. Through keynotes, a case study and panel discussion, the event will inform decision-makers about the potential contribution of maritime industries to national and global ocean and climate goals;connect maritime decarbonisation strategies, including port electrification and alternative fuel bunkering, to broader economic and policy systems;and build support for ocean-health-focused maritime operations, such as blue corridors.
