Field Projects Gallery in Chelsea (NYC) is pleased to present Re.tangle | Climate Disrupt in collaboration with In Situ Polyculture Commons, featuring 2026 Fellowship awardees, Anna Chapman and Kiran Jandu. The exhibition will include five public events, three of which will coincide with New York’s Climate Week. Re.tangle is an experimental and iterative art space centered around a communal loom, exploring themes of polycrisis and ecofeminism. The interactive fiber sculpture, initially constructed in 2024, has been previously activated in upstate New York, Massachusetts, and Ohio. In its Chelsea presentation, the project is in dialogue with the climate migration and environmental justice issues shaping New York City, including extreme heat, pollution, and flooding. Sonic Loom Activations: Throughout the exhibition we invite the public to activate the space. The loom, sonically modified by barbie.ai with contact microphones, will generate an interactive soundscape during collaborative weaving. We will host a series of gatherings in conjunction with Climate Week 2026, featuring activists such as Christian Vanizette and Jospheine Goube. Additional details on activations will be announced. Re.tangle aims to cultivate belonging and collective infrastructure amidst displacement and ecological instability. The reclaimed-material loom becomes a model of interdependence, with each strand contributing to the strength of the whole. How might we build a resilient future?
