Come join us for a morning of community climate action and environmental stewardship! Together, we will install native plants to restore the coastline and enhance biodiversity as part of the "Greater Rockaway" Coastal Resilience Plan. This plan, led by RISE, aims to restore dune biodiversity and promote environmental stewardship for resilient communities and shorelines.
Dune restoration directly contributes to climate action by strengthening coastal resilience against sea-level rise, storm surges, and erosion, thereby protecting communities and critical habitats while sequestering carbon and enhancing biodiversity. Engage with experts, learn about coastal resilience, and contribute to a sustainable future for our coastal communities!
This event is open to participants of all ages eager to contribute to a greener, more resilient Rockaway shoreline. No prior experience is necessary—just bring your enthusiasm for nature and community!
Please wear closed-toed shoes and comfortable outdoor clothing suitable for planting and working in sandy conditions
We'll have water, snacks, and lunch!
