The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska is one of the largest intact ecosystems in the world. The Refuge is also central to the subsistence life and culture of the Gwich’in, a Native tribe whose people have lived in the region for thousands of years. The fossil fuel industry and its allies have been fighting to open the Refuge to oil and gas drilling for over forty years. But drilling in the Arctic Refuge is extremely unpopular with the public, with 70% of U.S. voters against it. In the face of these new attempts to exploit the Refuge for oil and gas, civil society, native people, and investors are coming together to protect it. Please join us on September 24th for a webinar covering this rapidly evolving issue and opportunities for action.
