The Right to Cool: Heat, Labor, and Human Rights in Global Supply Chains

As temperatures across the globe are rising, heat in the workplace is becoming a central climate and public health challenge. From agriculture to construction to logistics, extreme heat poses a major risk to workers’ health and to supply chain resiliency. Through case studies and on-the-ground examples, this session will shift the focus from theory to practical, effective solutions that companies can implement to help mitigate the negative impacts of heat in their supply chains. Panelists from business and civil society will explore who may be primarily affected by heat stress and help us understand which interventions might be the most effective in mitigating these risks. Panelists will also link effective heat mitigation to increased productivity and better business outcomes, making the business case for urgent action. Session registrants will have the opportunity to engage with the panelists and discuss these issues with their peers and prioritize practical mitigations.
