NYC CoolRoofs Volunteer Coating Day: Queens

The HOPE Program, the sole operator of NYC CoolRoofs, invites volunteers to join a hands-on rooftop coating event in Queens on September 22, 2026. Working alongside HOPE's green workforce trainees, volunteers will help apply reflective coating to 4,500 square feet of roof, directly reducing surface temperatures, cutting cooling energy costs, and mitigating the urban heat island effect in the neighborhood. NYC CoolRoofs is a program of the NYC Department of Small Business Services (SBS) and the Mayor's Office of Climate and Environmental Justice (MOCEJ), and serves as a green jobs training pipeline for HOPE's participants. This event offers volunteers a firsthand look at how climate resilience and workforce development intersect — one rooftop at a time. No experience necessary. All supplies and training provided on-site.
