No Implementation without Equality: Women as the Foundation of the Future of Climate Multilateralism

This session will explore the implementation-based future of climate multilateralism. Implementation framed as the second "tier“ of climate governance, beside consensus-based negotiations. Through a discussion with experts and intergenerational climate advocates, this session will review how, in order to achieve effective implementation, gender-responsive climate data, finance and policy are not a peripheral add-on, but a precondition. The presentation of GWL Voices’ Spotlight report on Women in Global Climate and Environmental Leadership, will show the extent of the leadership gap, also underscoring the need for women's full and equal participation in global climate decision-making to accelerate the “second tier” of implementation.
