Climate change scenarios can shape more than our understanding of the future. They are fundamental to climate action, moving beyond research to directly shape real-world policies and ground-level implementation to cut emissions, protect against impacts, and build long term resilience. But what does it take to make climate scenarios useful for decision-making? The event “From climate pathways to action: Next-Generation future climate information for resilience”, co-organized by CMCC Foundation and the Horizon Europe FUTURA Project in the framework of the Climate Week New York City 2026, explores how climate scenarios inform policy frameworks and concrete actions to build societal resilience across international, European, and national scales. The discussion will include how the European Commission is building on state-of-the-art research and scenario development for Europe to be a front-runner in climate action, and how the Copernicus Climate Change Service supports users across scales and sectors in Europe and beyond robustly in using the latest generation scenario-based information for on the ground action. The lens is focused on end users by building scientific integration that links state-of-the-art climate science with society. The session showcases concrete use cases of this lens presented by international experts and explores how real-world policy and user needs are reshaping scenario design itself—placing human wellbeing, equity, and targeted socio-economic development goals at the heart of pathways modeling. It will also highlight the FUTURA project, the flagship initiative advancing Europe’s contribution to international coordinated efforts for next-generation socio-climate pathways. The project builds on end-user insights to bridge the gap between cutting-edge modeling research and practical implementation, guiding the design of responsive, user-centric climate scenarios. Attendees will gain valuable perspectives on how scientists, decision-makers, and practitioners can jointly ensure that future scenario frameworks remain actionable, impactful, and aligned with global resilience needs. This online event is organized by CMCC. The CMCC Foundation – Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change (CMCC) is an international, independent research center that provides state-of-the-art climate science for adaptation and mitigation strategies. Through a multidisciplinary approach that integrates climate modelling, Earth system science, economics, social sciences and impact analysis, CMCC delivers the knowledge, data and analyses that policymakers, businesses and communities need to make science-based decisions on climate change – from the global to the local scale. www.cmcc.it – Climate Insight for Global Impact
