Fall Migration Bird Walk along Rockaway Beach

The shorelines and green spaces of the Rockaways in Queens are vital natural landscapes for hundreds of migrating bird species. Join RISE and NYC Plover Project for a Fall Migration Bird Walk along the Rockaway Beach shoreline at the Rockaway Beach Endangered Species Nesting Area (RBESNA) and the Arverne East Nature Preserve. Because of the Rockaways's unique geography, there's potential to see a variety of shorebirds, songbirds, waterfowl and raptors. Potential species we might observe include Semipalmated Plover, American Oystercatcher, Common Tern, Sanderling, Peregrine Falcon, Osprey, Ruddy Duck, Song Sparrow, and Tree Swallow among many others. We will also learn about Rockaway's biodiversity and the role it plays the wider environment of New York City. This is a free, guided bird walk.
