Emergency Preparedness & Community Stewardship with Guardians of Flushing Bay @ Flushing Library - QPL

Queens Public Library is collaborating with Guardians of Flushing Bay alongside our partners from NYC Emergency Management (NYCEM), and Minkwon Center for Community Action. This event will include discussions on climate-related issues that face northern Queens, family-friendly activities such as plant identification and sewage demonstrations, emergency preparedness resources, and health and housing justice resources. As NYC experiences increasing storm surges, wildfire smoke, and heat waves, it is becoming increasingly important for New Yorkers to understand the risks of climate change and what we as a community can do to mitigate the worst effects and be well-prepared when disaster hits. This event is accessible in English and Mandarin language and welcomes students and family members to participate in activities and learn about environmental and emergency resources.
