Celebrate Climate Week NYC with Marine Park Alliance and NYC Bird Alliance on a guided bird walk through Marine Park. September is an exciting time for birding in New York City as fall migration brings birds south along the Atlantic Flyway. Marine Park’s expansive salt marsh, grasslands, and other coastal habitats provide an important place for migrating birds to rest and refuel along the way. Led by an expert from NYC Bird Alliance, participants will learn the basics of birding while exploring one of Brooklyn’s largest remaining salt marshes. Keep an eye out for Great and Snowy Egrets, Yellow-crowned and Black-crowned Night-Herons, Osprey, shorebirds, migrating songbirds, and other species that depend on Marine Park throughout the year. Along the way, we’ll also explore how protecting urban wetlands and other natural areas supports wildlife and helps build a more resilient New York City. This program is free and open to all experience levels. Bring binoculars if you have them.
