Climate Reparations Mixer - Connections and Visions for the Future

In another year of devastating climate disasters and record-breaking heat, the movement for climate reparations is more urgent than ever. The past years have seen some wins - the International Court of Justice confirmed that states are legally obliged to protect the climate, and failure to do so can be an internationally wrongful act that can trigger the obligation to provide reparations. The Fund for Responding to Loss and Damage has received pledges, although already the requests for project funds total close to $2.8 billion against only $350 million currently available. There is a long way to go and a lot of work to do, both within and beyond the UNFCCC framework. We are therefore offering this informal space to those working on or curious about climate reparations to share, connect, and strategize for the year ahead.
