Bridging the Gap: A Call to Action for National Heat Safety Standards to Help Parents and Coaches Keep Youth Athletes is a part of the 2026 Climate and Health Commons convened by the National Academy of Medicine and the New York Academy of Medicine. The Climate and Health Commons is designed to increase visibility, strengthen, coordination and support momentum across the climate and health fields. This public session is focused on identifying solutions and raising awareness to address the almost 100% preventable health conditions of heat stress and illness harming our children playing sports. This event is being hosted as part of the larger Climate and Health Commons convening. Registration for the Commons is required to attend.”
