Join Law Students for Climate Accountability during New York Climate Week for a conversation with Steven Donziger, whose case on behalf of tens of thousands of Ecuadorian plaintiffs against Chevron won a landmark $9.5 billion judgment for oil contamination in the Amazon. In the years since, he has weathered a relentless campaign of retaliation, drawing concern from members of Congress and UN human rights experts in a case that has become a touchstone in the growing discourse about SLAPPs. Steven will be joined by special guest Amy Westervelt, a climate journalist who has reported extensively on fossil fuel industry corruption and released a podcast on Donziger’s case. The event will be a rare chance to think about what it means to build a just transition alongside someone who has gone head to head with Big Oil — and come out the other side.
