Autonomous cities: building networks for mobility at scale

Autonomy is reshaping how people move through cities. Autonomous ride-hail is expanding into a commercial transportation service, extending the reach of existing networks and creating new possibilities for cleaner, more reliable and accessible mobility. Reaching city scale, however, will require more than continued advances in vehicles, software, and AI. Cities and industry must also deliver the land, power, infrastructure, permitting and operating networks needed to support fleets that run continuously and serve thousands of passengers every day. This opening transportation session will ask: How is autonomous ride-hail already changing urban transportation, and what changes as it reaches commercial scale? What infrastructure networks are needed to support fleets that run continuously across a city?
