Aligning AI Safety with Earth and Nature: Salon

AI’s energy use is well discussed, yet the values AI models themselves prioritize could be vastly consequential on climate and nature—especially as AI systems become increasingly powerful and angentically autonomous. This intimate salon will bring together a brain trust to explore how to ensure stewardship of Earth systems can become an explicit consideration in AI foundation model safety, training, evaluation, governance, and alignment research. Representatives from Autodesk Foresight and the National Academy of Sciences invite leaders from across businesses, philanthropy, civil society to consider: How should increasingly capable AI systems account for the long-term stewardship of the Earth systems that underpin human thriving? How might we get stewardship prioritized in the mainstream AI Safety and Alignment agenda and movement? Capacity for this roundtable is limited to ensure targeted conversation in our 90-minute window. Light refreshments will be served, and our collective discussion will set forth the opportunity and have participants input into prioritized values and approaches for aligning AI.
