Join us for a joyful street arts and climate action festival in Jackson Heights! We’re bringing together artists, neighbors, and changemakers to co-create art, share stories, and learn about how we can care for our planet and each other. Expect a day of hands-on art-making, creative collaboration, and conversations about the climate justice issues shaping our city. You’ll also get connected to folks working year-round to make NYC a more climate-forward, just place to live. Learn more here, and check out pictures from 2025! https://www.street-work.org/earth-fest-about New: Sustainable Fashion Designer of the Year Awards We’re bringing a fashion competition to 2026 Street Works Earth to celebrate designers, artists, and neighbors creating outfits that show how care for people, communities, and the planet can be gorgeous and inventive. Fashion designers at any level — self-taught, students, emerging, or established — are welcome to submit one original sustainable outfit. Designers must be available in person at the festival to present their work (exact day to be confirmed.) Register first, before submitting a design, by June 26th. Our work grounds in public, outdoor spaces. But with the possibility of rain 2 weekends in a row and of a Nor’easter with flooding and wind, we reached out to our neighbors to see what might be possible. And Connected Chef, at 37-31 58th St, Woodside, NY 11377, offered us their space within half a day! We’ll be mostly inside Connected Chef, creating a warm space for the day. And if the weather turns out to be beautiful, we’ll spill out onto the sidewalks. Connected Chef is one of our neighbors in Woodside, across the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway from Jackson Heights, and one of the most incredible community spaces around. They’re building a more just food system through affordable groceries, relationships with local farms, food education, and community programming in a 4,300-square-foot food distribution hub and community center. We are so glad to celebrate with you this small but so special example of what adaptation looks like when people show up for each other.
