1000 Landscapes for 1 Billion People (1000L) is BFI's global landscape-restoration platform, tied directly to the SDGs, with active national coalitions in Kenya (KenLAP), India (Common Ground), and expanding into Indonesia. This session explores how landscape governance is a systems-change lever that enables communities to unlock meaningful transformation. Rooted in real-world examples — Common Ground has reached 5.6M people directly and 18.5M indirectly in India, and partner Foundation for Ecological Security has reached 40M+ people across 12 states — the conversation will discuss how landscape governance de-risks communities and, in turn, de-risks landscape investments.
