Robust research on vehicle technology and transportation policy doesn't translate itself into policy — or into public understanding. This session brings together communications leaders working at the intersection of data, policy, and public narrative to explore how technical research gets turned into messaging, tools, and products that policymakers, media, and the public can actually use. Panelists will discuss what makes evidence "usable" for regulators, how to package complex findings — like the economic, health, and environmental gains of stronger vehicle standards — into compelling, accessible formats, and how communications teams can better serve as a bridge between researchers and the decision-makers and institutions that shape transportation policy. The conversation will draw on lessons from policy research, industry engagement, and cross-sector coalition building to offer practical takeaways for anyone working to make good data drive good policy.
