The Demographics and Planetary Health Convening on October 22-23 will bring roughly 150 people from academia, philanthropy, practitioners, and media to the Hopkins Bloomberg Center on October 22-23, 2026 to discuss how population growth, decline, aging, and urbanization intersect with economic, geopolitical, and environmental futures.
As a way to engage a broader media community on this topic and event, the 60-minute virtual session titled Finding the Media Hooks: Demographics and Planetary Health will provide interested journalists and reporters with the background, data, and voices needed to build a grounded story in sync with the event, including discussion of how to navigate demographics and Planetary Health as a reporter, and to provide details on how to enter the Demographics and Planetary Health Story Prize Contest. This session will be structured in the form of five expert pitches on top headlines that can inspire deeper reporting.
