This New York Climate Week session, co-organised by the Secretariat for the Climate and Environment Charter for Humanitarian Organizations and the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), will explore how community-rooted climate solutions that have been designed for and tested in conflict and fragile contexts can move from proof-of-concept to scale, including through new partnerships, innovative financing models, investment readiness approaches, and stronger links between humanitarian, development, peacebuilding, and climate actors. The discussion will draw on experiences such actors, including work supporting resilience-building, water security and climate adaptation initiatives in conflict-affected settings. The discussion will focus not only on what works at community level, but on what is needed to move from successful local initiatives to nationally and regionally scalable models capable of reducing humanitarian need, strengthening resilience and attracting long-term investment.
