Climate Week NYC: Plants, Animals, People: Climate Change in NYC - QPL

Join us for a talk with York College’s Dr. Monica Mowery to learn about how climate change is reshaping New York City's urban environment. Learn how rising temperature, and extreme weather events impact plants, animals, and communities across the city. Dr. Mowery will talk about how these changes highlight environmental justice issues in NYC. The talk will also offer everyday actions that can help build a more equitable, resilient, and climate-ready NYC. Dr. Monica Mowery is a professor in the Biology Department at York College. Her research is about ecology and evolution of invasive and native species, specifically insects and spiders. She often speaks to the public about studying ecology, evolution, and global changes, including climate change and urbanization.
