Join us for a panel discussion on the climate, environmental, and local harms of bioenergy, and how advocates, by working together, can advance better alternatives. Bioenergy comes in many forms and is politically popular, as it creates new income streams for landowners. Yet, using crops for biofuels such as ethanol or diesel, burning whole trees for electricity, or capturing purposely-generated manure methane for “renewable natural gas” all take us backwards on climate. This event seeks to draw together advocates, funders, and others focused on protection of forests (woody biomass), animals (manure biogas), food and land (crop-based biofuel), laying the foundation for greater policy success.
