Artist Sarah Cameron Sunde will lead a participatory ritual to practice raising a new flood gate, followed by an artist talk and panel on public art and climate change. They will discuss the role of art, ritual, and listening in preparing for extreme weather events, and how they can reveal invisible infrastructure all around us. Sunde is an interdisciplinary environmental artist and co-founder of Works on Water. Excerpts from her series, 36.5 / A Durational Performance with the Sea (2013-2022), will be projected on the Wagner Park Building following the event. Throughout Climate Week and beyond, community members are invited to participate in Sunde’s research for her new site-responsive work for Battery Park City Authority. Questions and prompts will be appearing throughout the Park.
