Agroforestry and agriculture-based carbon projects have significant potential across the Global South, but their development comes with complex methodological, commercial and structural challenges. This multi-stakeholder panel will examine the landscape from multiple perspectives — from the challenges developers navigate around additionality, common practice, dynamic baselines and MRV, to how buyers evaluate nature-based solutions in emerging markets such as India and what can strengthen buyer confidence. The discussion will also explore the community dimension: how carbon revenues translate into meaningful short- and long-term outcomes for farming communities, and how wider benefits around food security, water, biodiversity and community upliftment can be considered in project design and buyer valuation. Bringing together developers, buyers, registry representatives and academics, the session aims to enable an open cross-stakeholder dialogue connecting developer experience, buyer expectations, registry standards and academic evidence.
