Solutions Summit

The fourth annual Solutions Summit will bring 10-12 selected entrepreneurs to UNHQ to present their innovative solutions for advancing the implementation of the SDGs.

The entrepreneurs will give 4-minute lightning talks on their solutions in the SDG Media Zone, followed by in-person and online live feedback.

The lightning talks will be presented over the course of three days, with one solutions hour per day.

Hosted by UNF, Local2030, shift7, and the Global Innovation Exchange.

Alongside the UN General Assembly in September 2018, the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network’s Thematic Network on Good Governance of Extractive and Land Resources (“SDSN Thematic Network”), the Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment (CCSI), the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM), GIZ, and the World Bank will host a strategic meeting to discuss opportunities and challenges arising at the intersection of renewables and extractives, agriculture, and land use, as relate to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Columbia International Investment Conference

Hosted by Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment. This year’s Conference, taking place alongside the 73rd Session of the UN General Assembly in New York, will build on a multi-year effort to identify guiding principles and practical approaches for aligning international investment treaties with the SDGs.

At the Conference, the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce will also honor the winner of its Treaty Lab contest to redesign international investment agreements to encourage foreign investment in climate mitigation and adaptation.

UNICEF and Comics Uniting Nations implemented the Climate Comic Contest that invited thousands of children and young people across the globe to develop a planet-protecting superhero. The winner of the contest brought her superhero 'Tre' to life in comic-book form called 'The Adventures of Brother Earth.'
