Park(ing) Day

PARK(ing) Day is a annual open-source global event where citizens, artists and activists collaborate to temporarily transform metered parking spaces into “PARK(ing)” spaces: temporary public places. The project began in 2005 when Rebar, a San Francisco art and design studio, converted a single metered parking space into a temporary public park in downtown San Francisco.

The winner of the contest brought her superhero 'Tre' to life in comic-book form called 'The Adventures of Brother Earth.'

Tour visits aboard Tara

This New York City port of call will be an opportunity for the Tara Foundation to explain their work and raise awareness about the Ocean including coral reefs impacted by climate change (Tara Pacific expedition) and also the research on plastic pollution done by scientists working with Tara. Before arriving in the USA, the schooner Tara crossed the subtropical gyres in July where the biggest concentration of plastics exists. The stopover will give us an opportunity to share our research perspectives about microplastics.

Celebrate the opening of the highly anticipated Creative Climate Awards exhibit in the heart of Manhattan. The Creative Climate Awards are an annual series of events that showcase artists creating climate-inspired, public works and actions. In an effort to inspire us to think more critically about our actions and their impacts, the Creative Climate Awards program uses the arts and creativity to share knowledge, broaden the climate conversation, educate, and incite action.

The CCA Opening will take place on September 17th, between 6:00 PM and 8:30 PM.

Sports & Climate Summit

The Sport and Climate Change Summit will bring together some major sports organizations in the US but also elsewhere to take stock of their efforts to reduce the carbon footprint of the sports events they are organizing and offsetting unavoidable emissions to sponsor UN sustainable development goals in Africa.

The event will also discuss the potential role of athletes acting as role moles to their fans to reduce each one's individual carbon footprint through personal consumer choices.
