Junk Kouture is the world’s largest sustainable fashion competition for youth with a vision to enrich and empower the lives of young people through creativity and sustainability. 'A sport for creative kids', Junk Kouture lets kids show off their skills and compete against each other on local, national and global stages, gaining validation normally delivered through sports. Formed in Ireland in 2010, Junk Kouture now operates in six countries and is accessible to over 1 million young people. Students are engaged and active, conscious of climate change and wanting their voices to be heard by showcasing responsible decision making, increased reuse, re-purposing, up-cycling and recycling. With structures in place to deliver against 6 of the 17 United Nations SDG’s across a range of activities, the program creates the circular engineers of tomorrow. As Sustainable Living Partner of Climate Week NYC, Junk Kouture aims to inspire young people to believe that they have a voice in the response to this climate crisis. Their behaviors and actions have a role in creating a positive impact on the planet, and through creative thinking and leadership, they can make a difference.
