American Forests creates healthy and resilient forests, from cities to large natural landscapes, that deliver essential benefits for climate, people, water and wildlife. We advance our mission through forestry innovation, place-based partnerships to plant and restore forests, and movement building.
We envision a world in which the significant environmental, societal and economic benefits of forests are fully realized and equitably available to all people.
We support Climate Week NYC because forests are one of the most important nature-based solutions to climate change. Forests and forest products capture and store almost 17% of the United States’ carbon emissions annually. They have the potential to capture nearly twice as much if we plant more trees and use climate-smart practices to manage forests. Climate Week is a way for us to tell our story to the planet’s most influential leaders, and discuss critical issues such as Tree Equity, climate-informed reforestation, and the nationwide seed shortage.
