before the flood is a new play by Emily Bice running at The Chain Theater from September 8th-18th. Tickets are available at www.beforethefloodplay.com.
before the flood reinvents the tale of Noah's Ark as an empathetic and surprising exploration of how to live and love at the end of the world, and whether this whole "two by two" thing is all it's cracked up to be. A family dramedy inspired by ~actual~ Biblical events, before the flood is a contemporary reimagining of the night Noah told his family that a flood was coming, and that they were the only ones being saved. But what about the ones left behind? Brimming with humor and poignancy, this play asks what we owe to each other – and to our planet – in times of crisis.
As proud members of the Broadway Green Alliance, the before the flood team is committed to promoting and enacting sustainable and climate-positive practices throughout the run of the show. The team looks to inspire a positive impact both on and off the stage. Actions include offsetting the show's carbon footprint by donating funds to a local climate organization, sustainable theatre practices, and supplying audience members with resources and information to continue the fight against the climate crisis even after the show is over.
On September 17th, please join us for the "Climate Theater Double Feature," which will feature a talkback about How Theater Can Inspire Climate Action. More information can be found at https://linktr.ee/climatetheaterdoublefeature.
