Ten years ago, many of the world’s largest and most trusted brands took responsibility for their role in driving deforestation and pledged to eliminate deforestation from their supply chains by 2020. Yet many of these companies are continuing to buy from the very agribusiness suppliers linked to the fires raging across the Amazon and other forests around the world.
Join us in a Vigil for the Amazon, where global environmental and human rights organizations will be calling on corporate food companies that are members of the Consumer Goods Forum to immediately suspend contracts with agribusiness suppliers that are destroying forests.
We will be gathering on the public sidewalk outside of the Consumer Goods Forum convening on forests. Come dressed in black with any signs or messages you want to communicate.
This event is part of the Youth and Climate Activism program of Climate Week NYC.
