Refrigerant Week

3rd Annual Refrigerant Week, September 16-20

Cooling is energy-intensive, currently accounting for 20% of global electricity consumption, representing 8% of Green House Gas (GHG) emissions. And if we don’t act, the IEA is projecting that space cooling alone with almost double GHG emissions to 15% by 2050.

However, cooling should not be a luxury and is the solutions to many challenges. Cooling solutions make indoor environments comfortable, drive our economies, and keeping food and medicines safe. Food wastage alone is responsible for 8% of GHG emissions and cooling technology can reduce food losses by up 20%.

What is Refrigerant Week? Once per year, we host an event dedicated to sharing information and resources that aid in the transition to new refrigerants.

This event is part of the Resilience and Adaptation to Climate Change, Energy Transition, and Food, Land and Nature-Based Solutions programs of Climate Week NYC.
