The landmark Opening Ceremony of Climate Week NYC, hosted by the Climate Group, will mark the beginning of the tenth annual Climate Week NYC.
At the Opening Ceremony, leaders from across the world from a range of industries and backgrounds will come together to celebrate all that has been achieved in the past ten years to address climate change and to deliberate on the best pathway forward to drive vital climate action commitments to 2020 and beyond.
During the Ceremony, the ‘Step-up’ message will be delivered to New York from the Global Climate Action Summit in California and sent to national governments gathered in New York for UN General Assembly. Governments and other representatives in this session will back this call to ramp-up national commitments by 2020 so that they are on-track with achieving the Paris Agreement.
Global Business Leaders will also highlight how their industries are ‘stepping-up’ at the Ceremony, reflecting on what position they think their own business should be in by 2020. Many businesses executives are expected to add their own backing to the call for national governments across the world to also ‘step-up’, highlighting the economic case for long-term plans in-line with achieving the Paris Agreement.
The tenth annual Opening Ceremony of Climate Week NYC will play an important role in bringing together world leaders from both the business and political spheres to act on climate.
This is an invitation-only event.
