Recent injustices have catalyzed the Black Lives Matter movement, including disparities in COVID-19 Response efforts, the murder of George Floyd, and continued injustices caused by the history of systematic oppression in the United States and around the world. These global crises are inextricably intertwined and amplified by climate change and climate injustice.
The sustainability industry must address social justice to solve for climate change and as Nelson Mandela describes, sport may be just the tool to break down some barriers.
