Step onto the sand at Brooklyn Bridge Beach for kid friendly, hands on activities that reveal how our local waters can be measured for climate change.
Drop in throughout the afternoon to touch the East River and test its temperature and pH, and learn how warming waters and ocean acidification are affecting us. We’ll mark low tide at 2:29pm and use a flood yard stick to predict future water levels and learn how our community is preparing for them.
The program will go on if chance of rain or light rain. Only severe weather would cause cancellation. By order of New York City, no swimming and closed toed shoes must be worn on the beach at all times.
This event is part of the Youth and Climate Activism program of Climate Week NYC.
