Back Market

100 Bogart Street, 5, Brooklyn, NY 11206, United States

Launched in 2014 by Thibaud Hug de Larauze, Quentin Le Brouster, and Vianney Vaute, Back Market is the world’s leading dedicated renewed tech marketplace. The company brings high-quality professionally refurbished electronic devices and appliances to customers in 14 countries (including the United States, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Austria, the Netherlands, and more recently, Portugal, Japan, Finland, Ireland and Greece). It employs a team of 500 employees and counting across its 4 offices located in New York, Berlin, Paris and Bordeaux.

E-waste is the most toxic waste we produce, inevitably contaminating groundwater - slowly poisoning the ecosystems that support life. With less than 20 % of our electronics properly recycled and the huge environmental toll producing new electronics takes, purchasing a refurbished electronic device allows us to make the most out of the resources we have already used and reducing the overall impact of e-waste on the planet by keeping it from the landfill for as long as possible. To temper the pace of new device consumption, Back Market has built a business model around transparency and trust, focused on elevating the status of refurbished tech and providing prices that are accessible to all. For every phone accessory sold, we donate at least $1 to PUR Project to help the village of Pejarakan manage and recycle its waste and revitalize their environment. The funds will allow PUR Project to continue the pilot program they started in Batu Ampar Banjar, a small section of Pejarakan.
